A Happy Valium-Times Day With Heloise & The Savoir Faire

I was first exposed to Heloise & the Savoir Faire's live set when they supported The Teenagers at the Music Hall of Williamsburg along with TLC staple Lissy Trullie in December. At the time I was truly captivated by Heloise's incredible voice and the over-the-top theatrical stage presence of the show as a whole.

After their short UK trek earlier this year, Heloise & the Savoir Faire returned to NYC in time for the Valentine's Valium-times Day celebration at Le Poisson Rouge last Friday. Before taking the stage we chatted, or rather laughed our asses off along, with HASF (stay tuned!)

Lights of Old Navy fame opened up the show with her toothache-inducing brand of pop which I quite frankly could have done without. Fast forward a bit to Heloise and the Savoir Faire...

Heloise made a dramatic entrance in her signature high-collared red chiffon cape and red sequined body suit after 1AM, for a stellar set that made everyone forget that they were supposed to be depressed on this Hallmark occasion.

From beginning to end the show was an amazingly fast paced blur of sequins, glitter, laughter, surging endorphins, pumping fists, and undeniable talents. Set list highlights included the down tempo anthem Trash, Rats and Microphones and spirited Odyle.

In a world of packaged goods, it's so inspiring and refreshing to see such a fearless talent take the stage with the sole purpose of having fun. Make sure you check out Heloise & the Savoir Faire this Friday at the South Street Seaport in NYC, you will thank me later!

Santigold Takes Over The Apple Store

My girl Santogold Santigold will take over The Apple Store in SoHo this Friday February 20th. Besides seeing her at the Charlotte Ronson show this past Friday and the short performance at the MTVU Woodie Awards, it's been awhile since I've had my fix! How about a new song or two during your set, Santi??

New York Fashion Week Kick-Off With The Ronsons, Lilo, Santigold and Ryan Adams

New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked today, Friday the 13th of February. TLC was in attendance of Charlotte Ronson's typically star-studded runway show in the tents at Bryant Park.

Spotted at the Fall 2009 runway show were: Lindsay Lohan & Samantha Ronson (a given), Mark Ronson, Joy Bryant, and surprisingly Santogold Santigold, Trouble Andrew, Ryan Adams and fiance (?!) Mandy Moore. Oh yeah, and there were some pretty cool clothes too....

New York's Fashion week will say goodbye to Bryant Park at next year's Fall runway show before relocating to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park in September 2010. For more pictures of the clothing, check out this LINK.

Spank Rock, Ninjasonik and Japanther at Bodega

I was delightfully surprised to hear Spank Rock was playing Bushwick's Bodega yesterday along with Brooklyn's Japanther and Ninjasonik, especially since it's so closeby my apartment.

It was the typical crowd of sweaty, shirtless guys, girls with messy hair and a cloud of smoke floating right above. All sets were pretty short, but high on the energy scale. I found myself in the middle of the crowd moshing out, getting my drinks spilled all over whilst trying to protect my poor Olympus. Was a fun Wednesday night I'd say! Check out Spank Rock's killer studded boots.
