It was the gig billed the event of the year. Diesel xXx was held at the brand spanking new venue Matter at the o2 in south London on Saturday 11 October. 30 years, 30 venues around the world and 30 acts all joined together simultaneously for this seemingly unique event
Collaborations from Mark Ronson and Florence and The Machine ensured it was a crazy yet eclectic event…or was it? I found it particularly shambolic and an instantly forgettable night. It was surreal to say the least but for all the wrong reasons. The performances were too short and it seemed more about getting musicians from total different ends of the musical world for the shock factor instead of naturally fusing their unique talents.
The View were good, Florence and The Machine – goes without saying really. Other than that it was just another evening, I’m a lot more exciting about seeing Hot Chip at the same venue on Saturday. Shame really as T.I and Franz Ferdinand gig looked and sounded incredible over in NYC.
Suffice to say there was no free drinks or free food but the goody bag was amazing! Lovely diesel watch and perfume, fake tan (which i obviously don't need) and random hair products
