In true transatlantic fashion, while NYC CMJs it up, the UK will be heading to the prom. Thankfully not that rite of passage of American youth, but a 5-day series of music events showcasing up-and-coming acts as well as established artists tackling unfamiliar territory i.e. Oasis accompanied by the Crouch End Festival Chorus and The Streets backed by The Heritage Orchestra and a gospel choir.
The Electric Proms kicks off this Wednesday and runs through Sunday with events in both London and Liverpool (2008 European Capital of Culture). Check out the official site for ticket and event info. Extensive event coverage from BBC TV, BBC Radio, BBC Online and on demand in the UK thanks to the all-important Red Button.
