Finally finished unloading my camera and have got some sweet gems to share from The Cribs show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 20th '08.
Check out the video I took of The Cribs' live performance of collaboration with Sonic Youth man, Lee Ranaldo, on track "Be Safe":
Was my first foray into the new incarnation of what used to be known as Northsix. I must say, the renovation is very impressive. I was extremely taken by those ingenious little raised platform bits on either side of the main floor. We rolled up not too long before The Cribs were due to come on and had an amazing view and room to dance. The show definitely wasn't as raucous as the last time I saw them back in the Bowery in August but was good to take it all in in a more chilled out fashion.
The Jarman clan were in fine form with their usual solid playing and stage antics which include loads of mumbled speech. In case we didn't know they were from WAKEFIELD, they insisted on reminding us practically between each song. You don't get much more northern English pride than that. They seemed pretty chuffed when the crowd chanted "Wakefield! Wakefield!" every chance they could and took the odd stage dive/crowd surf. The set also included a cool cover of The Replacements' Bastards of Young.
